Idea for a Play

I have an idea for a play and I wonder if you'd like to work on it with me? Le Sanges de Paris. Basically, take Conrad's Heart of Darkness, swap out the jungle for the Paris underground, Marlowe for a French detective, and the natives with Paris street youths wielding vicious imported monkeys for weapons. It would be a puppet show in various stages- shadow puppets, marionettes, larger-than-life puppet suits, etc. Narrated in second person. Original music.

It may sound far-fetched but I once saw a production of Moby Dick in Chicago with the same basic setup. It was put on by Jeff Dorchen and Red Moon theater company. Let me know . . .

Jolie Holland

If you haven't heard Jolie Holland, you need to immediately: www.jolieholland.com. I saw her in Portland on my Birthday. She was just as great as I expected. Michael Hurley was actually there too and he played a song. I thought I would never get chance to him play. So, I need to thank Jolie for that, too. Thanks, Jolie. (No, I don't actually know her).

Buddy and Ollie

Critically wounded, with massive injuries to his face, body and limbs,
St. James saw what was happening.
(Animal death in mid-assault.)

At the Animal Haven Ranch to celebrate the birthday of Moe,
Who was himself taken from St. James' Los Angeles home
After biting off part of a woman's finger.

The couple had brought Moe a cake
When Buddy and Ollie attacked St. James.
Moe was not involved in the attack.

Dr. Maureen Martin says that they chewed most of St. James' face off
And that he would require extensive surgery to reattach his nose.
St. James had his testicles and foot mauled off.

Buddy initiated the attack
Ollie grabbed St. James and dragged him down the road.
